Anthesis

Anthesis are a sustainability consultancy who guide companies to decarbonise and create a more sustainable future.

Challenge

Anthesis needed a new site that showcased them as a modern, dynamic, and future-facing organisation. During the process of the redesign of their site, Anthesis acquired a new company, consequently, the branding was updated during the development stage which posed challenges with tight deadlines.

My role
Design

- Branding
- Prototyping
- Iconography
- User interface design

My approach

When I started on the project, the discovery part of this project was already completed. I started the design process by recreating the homepage design that was made externally. I made some adjustments to the original design, including different iconography, consistent spacing and accessible colour combinations. The original homepage design sent across from an external source employed key colour combinations that did not meet WCAG accessibility standards - I raised this and guided a new palette to be used. In line with UX best practices, there were conversations and recommendations about removing the carousel from the homepage hero, however this was not accepted. I regularly spoke with key stakeholders and presented variations of the design after rounds of feedback.

Results

Working alongside the project manager, developers and other members of the design team, I constructed a successful redesign of the site. I learned a lot from this project. The iterative process allowed me to face criticism head on and adapt my designs accordingly. I was in regular contact with the development team to ensure the blocks created were not only visually appealing, but also possible given the client timelines and budget. I was also able to conduct browser testing to ensure the site worked across a range of browsers and was responsive to different breakpoints.
